Vision

A Nigeria where women don’t choose sex work as an alternative means for survival

Mission

To take female sex workers off the streets to a safe shelter where they are transformed mind, body and spirit

Target

Our target is women between the ages of 18-35 years old respectively

Forecast

By 2025, we expect to have established one more location. In this light, we project a direct interaction and exposure of the project to 240 women while we intend to actively rehabilitate 132 women. As we empower one woman, we indirectly liberate entire families.

Goals

1. Resettle sex workers from brothels to better living accommodations where relevant.
2. To provide psychosocial support through counseling and therapy sessions.
3. To expose women to the power of good education and settle them in schools.
4. Provide vocational and technical skill trainings to women.
5. Give each woman earning power through small business capital.

A message from the Project Director.

From the beginning of time, it has been established that women are 2nd class citizens, or at least that is the impression that has carried through time. She has always had to work harder to prove herself to be valued. She has always fought to find her voice, and to use it. The woman has typically had more silent responsibilities than the men, as she is expected to manage the home front, the children, and many extended family members who rely on her in some way while either being in the work force or at least have a business that supports her needs. The shoulders of the woman have been built or at the least to some extent taught to carry a ton of weight.

With this pressure and the inability to cope, some women have found themselves making choices that are far from ideal as they put themselves up for sale just to make ends meet for themselves and their families. Not many women wake up with the idea of engaging in sex work, but circumstances and dare I say poverty lead them to mentally dismantle and destabilize all they believe to be true about their real sense of self just to keep their heads above water and survive in the world.

The Sarina Project exists to meet them where they are, give them a space to live for 150 days as we rebuild and equip the structures in their minds, bodies and spirits, and ultimately place them back into the society empowered and prepared to thrive and make better choices as they lead their lives optimally. We have a dedicated and committed team of staff, mentors, volunteers, and resource personnel that share the same passion and drive to work with the residents as we hold their hands and pull them to better, until their better is their best.

Two heads will always be better than one, and there is power in number. So, this is a call to you. Yes, You! Join us to support and contribute to giving a better opportunity at life for girls in our project. Together, we will be unstoppable and we will do much more.
